Player Movement

Post by Ntxrocks on Fri Apr 25, 2014 10:37 pm

You guys are awfully quiet looming towards tryouts! Our boards are full of tryout info and discussion. What's going on in this age group? Talks of moving or is everyone happy where they are?

Rumor out there is that OFC is recruiting hard from Blitz, Southlakes and Norman. I heard they even used a guest player or two in recent tournament.

TSC is probably pretty set going into ECNL unless they get a defector from Blitz.

Im sure both would like to strengthen any weakness they have going into next season where it will get tougher for both.

Any major changes to the 01s from OK? Did schmucks thoughts come true for his kid?

OFC 01 Phillips did pick up two girls from Norman.
Not sure of any other changes with any teams besides two girls from OFC 01 Phillips moving to OFC 01 white.

So there was some movement for OFC but not as much as we heard. They already dominated state so if they improved good luck to everyone else!

Hard to make the switch/drive.

What about TSC's ECNL team? Any pick ups? Would like to see them play OFC.

TSC's ECNL team will never play OFC's team unless and until OFC becomes an ECNL club.

I have not heard of any talk about OFC going the ECNL route. Hopefully they will meet in a showcase or something this year.

Rumor is OFC keeps trying to go ECNL and TSC keeps trying to block them. I assume OFC will be PLW this year. Given prior age group experience it is extremely unlikely they ever cross paths -- ECNL is a completely different program from USYS. Certainly won't be any scrimmages.

Friends at OFC tell me that they have applied to ECNL several years in a row but keep getting denied due to lack of depth in the coaching staff.

I don't know if it is coaching depth or politics or if OFC has really even tried. Only four coaches assigned to ECNL teams at TSC. I am sure OFC has more than four quality coaches.

My guess is politics. I am certain OFC has tried -- they would be nuts not to do so from a financial perspective. Adding ECNL option brings more kids to a club, and allows the club to more efficiently sell the dream of college soccer.
