OFC, Energy and Blitz?

Post by TSC010405 on Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:59 pm

So I was told this weekend that Blitz has merged with the new Energy club? Is this true?

I have no clue. This is all above my pay grade and my kid's no ECNL level player. I'm just here for the smart commentary.

That would be huge news! Great for Blitz! Looks like OFC is really making a push for the DE league. Good for them.

Looks like tsc might be the odd man out if this happens and these clubs to get DA. that leaves them with ecnl witch will be a glorified Opl league once DA happens

If "OFC East" enters the Tulsa market with new management, I see good possibilities, DA or not. Same if TSCH enters the OKC market.?.?

Unfortunately, I've heard that Blitz management would be running OFC East independently from OFC, so in that case I see little benefit to Tulsa (doesn't help with feeder club or club fields) and a huge headache for OFC from poor Blitz management.

I'm also not convinced that DA will relegate ECNL to second tier, especially in terms of college recruiting.

I also heard about this merger/partnership at the OFC tryouts on Sat. Heard that nothing was finalized. Just passing on what I heard. So take it for what it's worth. Lol. Does that make me a gossip? Lol

Is TSCH trying to enter the OKC market?

With that logic the rest of Oklahoma is the odd man out right now? Wishful thinking for some, but I doubt it will happen like that. DA will most likely not hit Oklahoma for another 3-5 years.

I like Cosmos04's comment that DA will relegate ECNL to a glorified OPL league... I guess my question would be what does that make SRPL, OPL and OCL (isn't that where all the SLSC teams play)?

Actually not to many in SRPL and have any of them made it in a league higher than SRPL in the USYS program?

Rainbow:

I personally don't know what will come of all of this. Nor am i saying SLSC is competing with as many teams as TSC. However, we have come a long way for a young club.

I will address your question. Last year on girls side SLSC's 01s basically finished 3rd out of Oklahoma teams in SRPL. SLSC 02s won SRPL and are on to the "higher league" and SLSC 03s finished the highest among Oklahoma teams in U13 spring srpl. All in all not quite as shabby for a small club. I don't have a clue on girls side.

My point was Cosmos04 is quick to slam ECNL while all of his clubs teams play in leagues lower than ECNL so if ECNL becomes 2nd tier than it just lowers the leagues SLSC is in...

I personally doubt a club from OK gets into DA.  I believe OFC and TSCH has been trying to get in on the boys side and neither have made it so I doubt they can pull it off on the girls side.

If they do the age groups are every 2 years so anywhere from 6 - 10 girls per birth year will get pulled out of the current pool of players to participate and there will be some that cycle in and out of DA (i.e. they can make it when they are the older of the 2 years grouped together but maybe fall out of it when they are in the younger of the 2 years that are grouped together).  It will have an impact and will be great for that small set of players that get on a team but for all of the other players it will just further weaken the teams trying to play in whatever other league they play in and for OK make it harder for us to have teams that can really compete at the top levels of the various other leagues.

This is my opinion. I think (as i've stated on here before) this is USYS (which is the big dog on the block) attempt to diminish the prestige of ECNL. My suspicion is they will come up with and/or prop up SRPL and national league and make those stepping stones for kids.

Props to OFC for trying to position them self to get a look for DA. Other than that i don't see a benefit for a east west merger. They won't merge any teams. Kids aren't switching clubs for it, so I don't see it as a a big deal. Maybe southlakes and Norman merge and jump in with Rayo. That would change the landscape!

Seems to be a lot of chatter about OFC/Blitz/Energy Tulsa announcement next week. Question: will this improve the current Blitz organization or will it be mostly a name change with exhisting Blitz management running the club independently from OFC?

I think it'll be somewhere the middle. Don't think Blitz will get to run everything. They will get together on a lot if decision.

Energy, i think, will have a lot of say. I believe the meetings leading up to this were mostly with energy, not OFC. However, they communicated with OFC through the process.

I think it will open up opportunities for the kids. Worst case, it stays status quo, but doubt that. I think it's a smart move for the players.

I believe Academy will keep Blitz name and competitive die will change.

As a Blitz parent, I am interested to see what changes are coming if any. Could have the possibility of a super OFC team if you combine the best players from an OFC West team and East team to travel out of town for a tourney. Almost like an ODP team.

With TSCH getting DA at least on the girls side, I would think that Blitz will end up on the losing end no matter if OFC gets DA ot not. I think most girls with talent will transition over to TSCH earlier to get seen for ECNL and DA now. I also don't think the addition of Blitz to OFC will help them garner status in DA or ECNL. Most coaches were recruiters and not A, B, C licensed this does not help when evaluating the clubs leadship and philosophy. Also the financial turmoils only add fire to fact that Blitz will more than not likely win any lawsuit on rented fields from another non affiliated Club. Also the rental agreement was I believe with the old Blitz that was folded and then a new entity of Blitz created. The rental field contract should not apply to the new Blitz, a new contract would have been needed with the new entity. Blitz and United were not merged this was a rental on fields owned by United. They may have rental contract issues but these fields are not Blitz's to begin with. When a new buyer buys a home they have to evict the renters and provide adequate time for moving. MTSC United may or may not have done this appropriately. I don't see what Blitz adds to OFC but uncertainty and maybe a toehold in the Tulsa market.
