NTX vs. OK

Post by Ntxrocks on Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:24 pm

Let's get this thing rolling! Why do you need an OK Forum? There are only a few teams that can compete on our level. Who are they?

Bash, repeat, tell a friend and see if you can at least compete with us on a forum level.

Do Oklahoma teams get to use "guess" players when comparing teams or is that only allowed for the mighty NTX teams?

So who do you have in NTX as the top teams? (This question could triple the traffic and pull in lots of new NTX posters.)
06 - 1) Kicks 2) FC Dallas 3) Aztecs
05 - 1) Solar Pulp 3) Baby RASE 3) DTS
04 - 1) RASE 2) DTS 3) Dalglish
03 - 1) SRSA 2) FCD Gold 3) DTS

To me it makes sense to have a forum because there are a lot of things that the folks in Texas don't care about that we will, like soccer camps field maps local tournaments.

In general, the top NOKC & TSC teams compete well in NTX. Blitz, in Tulsa, has a few good academy teams here and there.

For Academy:
06 boys - NOKC Red, TSC Gold, Blitz Navy
05 boys - NOKC Red
04 boys - Blitz United 04

07 girls - TSC Gold
06 girls - TSC Kepley
05 girls - TSC Gold, NOKC Red, Norman Knehans
04 girls- TSC Kitterman, TSC Winters, Blitz (White), NOKC Red

In general, Oklahoma teams may grab one guest player for an out of town tournament. Usually it's a boy or girl who is playing up a year, then comes down to their age group.

I would say you are correct. You could easily put LFS in the top 3.

BTW, you were saying some interesting stuff about JK on the NTX forum. Want to share any over here?

It's the same...JK seems to be setting up to shift back to Tulsa area. Nothing definite, just things that I've learned from various clubs.

The 03 and 04 Lexus Cup brackets should give us some insight to this question. A potential Dalglish match with Kitterman would give some insight on the 04s.

OP thinks everything is bigger in Texas -- if you look at the NTx forum the common perception is those NTx kids are just better (than kids everywhere) and know how to win, blah, blah, blah.

Given the population numbers, an OK superteam team that can successfully compete with the top North Texas teams is a statistical anomaly.  3MM-ish peeps in OK, about 13 MM in DFW area.  The math is not that difficult.

Developing successful-against-top-NTx Oklahoma team takes some doing, and is very age group dependent.  95, 98 and 99 age groups produced Tulsa teams which were very competitive.  Other older age groups not so much.  Talent in some age group stays spread out -- everyone drinks their own club's KoolAid, particularly starting with Academy (and girls like playing with their friends).  The two main population centers are 100 miles apart, so not much movement/team combination between Tulsa and OFC, which further holds OK teams back regionally.  When teams combine late (i.e., wait until U13-U14 to put some or all of the best kids together), they are usually way behind top NTx teams (look at the 00s).

Oklahoma pretty regularly produces teams that can beat all but the 5 or so NTx teams, but the Oklahoma superteam that dominates top NTx competition is rare, as the NTx numerical advantage is difficult to overcome.

I agree with tschlurker. The only way for oklahoma teams to be competitive on the region/national level is to have all the best girls in the state on one team not spread out between TSC, OFC and sometimes Blitz/smaller clubs. TSC and OFC can be very good at certain age groups but depth is usually a BIG problem against the other major clubs from NTX and other places. Someday maybe, the oklahoma girls at each age group might start combining so they can really compete at a high level at every age group. It might happen down the road, who knows?????????? it would help all the top players if it does!!!!!!!

Clearly, the huge numbers difference is the primary problem OK teams face when trying to field a team to compete with the elite NTX teams...NTX clubs are just going to have more top notch players to choose from.  But does anyone think that a significant coaching disparity exists as well?

Everything is bigger in Texas so it stands to reason the number of quality coaches would be greater in NTX. Plus it appears most of the "known" coaches avoid academy level teams. I also think the opportunity to play high level competition weekly is also a big advantage.

I saw RASE rightfully getting a lot of love on one of the other threads. Could a 04 team made up of the top Tulsa talent play with them?

What about Solar Pulp versus 05 NOKC? Is there a big difference there? I would guess so after seeing the results from NOKC’s visit to NTX last weekend.

Is there a top 06 Oklahoma team?

I did hear TSCH had a really good 07 team, but I think they got beat a couple of times when they visited NTX recently. Can they compete or is it another example of the top team in OK being a step or two behind the top NTX teams?

04's-no way. Even consolidating best of TSC Kitterman, Blitz, and a few others. RASE is light years ahead. TSC Kitterman, generally considered best 04g team, lost by a bunch in a friendly to RASE.

05g - maybe...Cole's girls stubbed their toe against NYSA Khenans in Norman a few weeks ago. If that hadn't happened I'd say yes (b/c of the great results they have had coming down to NTx). Pulp beat everyone in Plano LD tourney. I put NOKC Red a step ahead of NYSA & TSC Gold.

06g - TSC black girls are pretty good. Usually they are playing vs the 05 girls in tournaments. They added 2-3 girls off a good Blitz team. I'd have to give them the nod over any other girls team around. They are going to NTx (Liverpool Legends) in May. Guessing we will see how good they are then.

07 TSC Gold went down to NTx (Primetime) at end of January - no idea how they did.

So basically I'm on record as no for 04g, maybe for 05g & 06g, and no idea for 07g.

I think the 06 girls Kepley has a chance to be really good. The 07's will have a chance to be good with some work. I think Carreno 05 girls are on a decline with movement on the team.

I think Lexus cup will be good judge of 05 girls. Will be interested to know what movement is happening with 05 Carreno. That's new info. They have been fairly stable group.

Do tell about movement, especially if it is late breaking news. Nothing gets things stirred up like player or coach movement.

Check out Dalglish or RASE if you want to see a great coach.

Looks like Kitterman and Dalglish in the finals. Guess we will see how far behind OK teams are compared to a NTX elite team.

Seems like 3 goals. Didn't get a chance to see game but heard that Dalglish played better (obviously, look at score)

Anyone out there see it?

Stood and watched majority of RASE and NYSA FURY 03 ABEL. I was impressed on how well the ball was moved. Wonder how RASE would have matched up with TSC 03 Amos.
